One of my master clients has been suffering from cervical disc herniation, cervical kyphosis,
At one point, she was even told that surgery necessary.
She has been coming to my studio for two years now.
When she first started, the numbness in her hands was so severe that she couldn’t even hold the steering wheel of her car.
During lessons she often said things like:
“SBM doesn’t help at all.”
“My numbness isn’t getting any better.”
It almost sounded as if she were blaming me every time — which is understandable when someone is in pain.
Recently, I noticed that she had stopped saying those things.
So I asked her:
“By the way, how is the numbness in your hands these days?”
She suddenly realized:
“Oh! I haven’t written in my symptom diary since September. Now that you mention it, I have no numbness at all on either side!
When we get better, we really do forget, don’t we?”
When people are struggling, they naturally want to vent.
I completely understand that.
But please also tell me when things start improving —
because that matters just as much.
And having no numbness for three months is incredible progress.
Her cervical spine is improving steadily.
I’m truly happy for her.
