avoid soft mattresses where your hips sink in—choose a firmer one instead!

A Lesson from a Soft Mattress

One of my clients recently shared her experience after staying at a hotel.
The mattress was very soft, and the next morning she woke up with a heavy feeling in her lower back and discomfort.

She realized:
"Sleeping on a soft mattress can put so much strain on the body. My hips sank into the bed, and for the first time, I felt what back pain really is. I thought, this could be dangerous."

She had also been working for two weeks straight without rest, which added even more stress to her lower back.

While working, she wore the SBM pelvic belt and felt how effective it was.
Fortunately, she didn’t end up bedridden or unable to move. But she told me, “Now I understand what people with back pain feel like.”

She also reflected:
“I need to take proper rest, strengthen my routine with glucosamine, and keep practicing SBM. This was a valuable lesson, and I’m glad I know how to take care of myself and recover without panic.”

Her conclusion was simple: avoid soft mattresses where your hips sink in—choose a firmer one instead!
Otherwise, you’ll find yourself wanting to sleep on the floor.

Even for myself, although I am healthy now, I remind myself not to become overconfident. Taking care of the body never stops.

How to Prevent Back Pain

From this experience, we can learn some important points about protecting the lower back:

✅ Sleep on a firm mattress
Soft beds cause the hips to sink and increase strain on the spine.

✅ Maintain the natural S-curve of the body
The lumbar curve is especially important for spinal health.

✅ Strengthen the intervertebral discs
With SBM practice, we focus on thickening and protecting the discs to reduce nerve compression.

✅ Be mindful of sitting time
Sitting for long hours puts the greatest pressure on the lower back. Take breaks and change positions often.

By paying attention to these habits and listening to the body’s signals, back pain can be prevented.
Take action today, and give your back the care it truly deserves.
