6 Sessions of Physio Won't Fix Your Herniated Disc. Here's the Truth Nobody Tells You.

Let me say something that might be uncomfortable to hear.

If 6 sessions of physiotherapy could fix a herniated disc — back pain would have been solved worldwide a long time ago.

It hasn't.

And yet, every day, people finish their 6 NHS physio sessions, feel little or no improvement, and are left wondering what went wrong. Was it the physio? Was it them? Was it just bad luck?

The answer is none of the above.


The problem is the expectation.

A herniated disc is not a sprained ankle. It is not a pulled muscle that heals in a few weeks with the right exercises.

It is a structural issue — built up over years, sometimes decades, of postural habits, daily patterns, and accumulated pressure on the spine.

6 sessions cannot undo years of damage.

No course of treatment can — unless you take responsibility for your own body.


What actually works — and why it takes time

The spine does not change overnight. Muscles that have been imbalanced for years do not rebalance in 6 weeks. A lumbar curve that has been lost over decades does not return in a month.

Real, lasting improvement requires:
