● ちまきと柏餅 Chimaki and Kashiwamochi

端午节

Morita Daifuku always makes delicious treats,

especially for Children's Day celebrations – kashiwamochi and chimaki ❤️❤️❤️

These will be enjoyed by a customer's son during our weekend lesson.

I also look forward to planning tea time. 😊

I've packed them in a two-tiered wooden box from IKEA.

端午节

● ちまきと柏餅

Chimaki and Kashiwamochi

“柏餅:Kashiwamochi” is a sweet made by wrapping a white mochi filled with “zuki bean paste in oak leaves, while “ちまき:Chimaki” is a sweet made by wrapping a mochi made with arrowroot or rice flour in bamboo leaves.

Both are known to be eaten on “こどもの日:Children's Day”.

The oak tree, which is considered a lucky charm, does not shed its old leaves until new buds appear.

It seems to be associated with "prosperity of descendants."

For this reason, kashiwa mochi wrapped in oak leaves seems to have become established as a food that brings good luck.

We have seen an increase in international visitors at our London campus, so we hope that along with studying at SBM, they can also enjoy Japanese culture 🌸

Everyone, have a wonderful Bank Holiday weekend! ❤️
