I feel music knows no borders !

I had never played a string instrument before, actually my music, on the contrary I had a poor record in my music study when I was student.
I still could not read a music note and I just follow a code of Ukulele.

However,I always look up to someone who can play an instruments because I feel music knows no borders when I am away on a journey. So I wanted to learn some instrument somewhere in my mind.

I did not remember but I accidentally came across a popular video of
Its cool! This is a second reason I would like to play Uke and 




Since I started to practice I was not good student. I decided to aim to join the December 5 Music picnic 2015 Ensemble concert which my tutor organized. I did not feel I would be ready to attend early of October. But it worked out last night! We played at local church.

If you were only allowed to do one exercise to improve your health, what kind of exercise  would you choose? 


If I were only allowed to do one exercise to improve the health of my mind and well balanced body I would choose Self Body Make (SBM).

I started SBM when I was 38 years old. Here is my back grand of my heath condition.
Body conditions before starting SBM
Junior High School to High School
Lumbar spondylolisthesis with a temporal walking difficulty and had to wear corset
Diagnosed as straight cervical spine by a chiropractor
Painful menstrual periods and could not get out of bed on heavy
days, Anemia, Meniscal legion of the left knee, Weight gain
20s to 30s
Meniscal tear worsened with fluid build-up inside the knee
Headaches, shoulder pains, hip joint pains and pains in the left knee
Sciatica, Constipation, Inflammatory bowel disease with bleeding
Booked for colonoscopy every year, Removal of colorectal polyp
Eradication of Helicobacter pylori
Cervical cytology Level 3 (abnormal cervical cells)
Tendonitis with constant numbness on both wrists
Period pains (I was in agony every time before the menstruation started) , Herpes, Shingles, Cardiac hypertrophy, Hyperthermia
Weight gain
I went from hospital to hospital and I tried from complementary and alternative medicine to the next as well due to those condition.

Voice - Period pain・Back pain・Bloated around the abdomen area as if I had overeaten・Hay fever・Atopic dermatitis・Constantly stiff shoulders


Reasons why I started SBM
I was always looking for an easy exercise. I tried yoga and Pilates but neither of them really seemed to work. Yoga was good for relaxation but I never felt it was enough to reclaim my health. Meanwhile I met Mika. She checked my body and to my astonishment, her diagnoses were spot on. I wanted to aspire for a figure like Mika’s. That was one of the reasons why I chose SBM.
Changes after starting SBM
Exercising on a daily basis was hard at first. My body was stiff and every time I attended classes I had muscle pains. But after a couple of months I was no longer suffering from period pain and back pain. My monthly menstrual cycle was becoming less of an agony.
Symptoms of hay fever have also stopped since starting SBM. I no longer need facial masks to cover my nose during the season.
Not only I was blessed with a baby but also I have toned incredibly, thanks to SBM. Many of my friends have been moaning how they cannot get rid of excessive fat around their stomachs after giving births; on the other hand my current weight is minus 2 to 3 kilos before I was pregnant. My belly is also toned and I look more slender than the time before I got pregnant.
During my pregnancy I experienced neither back pain nor bloating and gained only 5 kilos despite indulging my favourite food to my heart content. I feel lucky and thankful for having such a smooth pregnancy period.
My current status
I am exercising SBM while I take care of my young child. As I am busy attending to childcare, I cannot exercise as much as I would like to. However, I have been managing to do it every single day and for that reason alone, I am in good health. Because I toned rapidly after the childbirth, my dress size has gone down. I must say I am happy with that!
I strongly recommend SBM to people who have been resorting to chiropractic treatment but can’t see the benefits of it, and to those who are on medication for headaches and/or period pains.

    Customer's voice - A lumbar herniated disc and Ear ringing

    A lumbar herniated disc and Ear ringing
    It was while I was waiting for my operation day for herniated discs when I came across Self Body Make (SBM). I was desperately browsing the web looking for any information, which might help ease my extreme backache caused by the herniated discs.
    I noticed some symptoms in my late 20's. One day at work, out of sudden I felt a strong pain on my lower back at work, which enabled me to sit at my desk. It was a temporary pain so I didn't pay much attention. However, the same thing started to happen more frequently and eventually, I had to give up on my work as the numbness on my left leg, despite three-times-a-week osteopath treatments, prevented me from walking. It was so unbelievably painful to do simple things like standing or sitting that I had to limit my time outside and lie flat on the floor most of the time at home. Thinking back, there were a few symptoms appearing a few years prior to the first incident. Ear ringing since the age of seven, crossing my legs while sitting since young age, sleeping only on my front, bunions, pain on my left leg... During our yearly family photo shoot, the photographer used to say to me, "keep your left shoulder level, it's higher than the right shoulder". I remember thinking, "how come? I am standing perfectly straight!". I also noticed the hem of their left trousers legs were always worn out, and wet on rainy days because they were touching the ground even though the right trousers legs were perfectly fine.
    Just then, I came across SBM, and immediately empathized with its concept: make your own body (Self Body Make). I applied for a trial lesson and decided to cancel the operation and try SBM instead. The first three months was a battle with the pain, the pain caused by this exercise in order to create S-curve on the spine, which was so straight that it made the discs to deform. I was already in an unbearable pain without doing anything, so it wasn't too difficult to handle the pain knowing the exercise was making the condition better. I decided not to pressurizing myself so that I would do the exercise everyday in a bid to make it a habit. I was aware too well that Rome was not built in one day. When I realized I was making a progress thanks to a body check every month, it made me motivate even further. After a while, I noticed I was in tune with my own body and started to feel subtle changes. After all, it was me who make myself better or worse and SBM made me realize this.
    I experienced two happy pregnancies
    It's been nearly 5 years since my very first SBM lesson. During this time, I experienced two happy pregnancies. Doctors feared I would be bed bound as the extra weight would most likely worsen my already bad condition and I wouldn't be able to walk. Luckily, despite the doctors concern, everything went smoothly and I didn't even have a backache, let alone a walking difficulty! I carried on working until I was over 38 weeks pregnant, and exercised SBM until the day before my children were born. Today, while I'm busy with two young children, I have my 'me' time every night which I choose to spent reflecting on my mind and body by doing SBM. It's a blessing to have such a calm and positive time after a hectic day. I am so looking forward to introduce SBM to my children and share the experience together.

    Trent Park in North London


    The Trent park became one of my favorites place in London.









    We found a small moated isle known locally as Camlet Mort. I feel like I am being drawn into the different world. 





    Someone else left a candle on the tree and we lighted the candle and stayed there for a while. We haven't finished the candle for next lovers.

    In June 2010, I was hospitalised with a heart rate of nearly 18 beats per minute. My heart had been racing for several days but I was under the impression it was food poisoning. Just two weeks after my wedding on the Greek island of Naxos, I was diagnosed with thyrotoxicosis, which meant that my body was over producing thyroxin and ultimately poisoning me. On reflection, my heart rate was not the only symptom, I had been suffering from mood swings, feeling excessively hot and had put on a lot of weight over several years. I had put a lot of my symptoms down to my Father’s death and had not suspected that I was unwell.


    Once diagnosed with Graves’s disease, an autoimmune disease affecting the thyroid gland, I started on a treatment that suppressed the production of thyroxin. I also had to take beta-blockers to treat the heart related symptoms. In the months following the thyroid storm (thyrotoxicosis) I suffered heart palpitations and anxiety attacks and was not sleeping. I limited my drinking of alcohol as this also increases your heart rate and I made changes to my diet, trying to eat more sensibly. My body had been producing ten times too much of the hormone thyroxin and my endocrinologist said that I had had the most severe case of thyrotoxicosis he had ever seen. I started to lose weight quite quickly and felt less swollen but still very weak. I did not enjoy exercising, as my heart rate would increase which frightened me, reminding me of my experience of the thyroid storm.

    I started SBM and taking flora pills in February 2011. I found it very difficult to start with, the position felt unnatural and I was very stiff. I was pleased that it did not increase my heart rate but still felt as if I had worked my body. My weight loss increased considerably and I felt some very quick changes to my body. I felt less anxious, more peaceful and stronger. In the first month I lost a lot of centimetres from around my waist and my master told me that my pelvis had moved a lot. The vertebrae that relates to the immune system had been swollen, I had felt this for years but did not consider it as a symptom of something more serious. The muscles of my neck became stronger at the same time as my thyroid gland (located in the neck) became less swollen. My endocrinologist had told me that it might take several years to regulate my thyroid gland’s production of thyroxin. I would probably have to be on medication for the rest of my life and I would not be able to have children until my levels were regulated. 

    In April 2011, just two months after starting to practice SBM every day, my levels were normal. My endocrinologist said that I could consider starting a family but that it might take years to conceive so to be patient. In July 2011, I became pregnant. I continued SBM and taking flora pills until the week before my daughter was born and my levels stayed normal throughout the pregnancy. In month 7 of the pregnancy, I was told to stop taking my thyroid medicine.

    I had a difficult birth, I was overdue and after a long labour, I had an emergency caesarean section. After the birth I had an infection and feeding was difficult but the whole time I continued to take flora and my levels stayed normal. Six weeks after the birth, once the caesarean started to heal, I started to practice SBM again. It felt very natural and I enjoyed feeling my muscles wake up after having been stretched throughout the pregnancy. Being a mother is very physical and it is easy to have a bad posture during feeding and nappy changing, SBM helps me to notice my body and to listen to it and respect it. I find doing my exercises at the end of each day very relaxing. It is now 12 weeks since the birth of my daughter and I am still not on thyroid medicines. My levels are normal and I have nearly lost all of the weight from the pregnancy.


    I believe that SBM has helped my body to recover after the thyroid storm. My endocrinologist was amazed by the speed of my recovery from such a severe reaction. He believes that a combination of my change in lifestyle, the SBM and the flora are to be thanked for my quick recovery.


    SBM has been a method for me to keep my body in shape at a time when I did not enjoy cardiovascular exercise. I find SBM nearly meditative, I take my exercise time as time to clear my mind and contemplate my day. It has helped me to hear my body and notice when I am not treating it well. It has become an important part of my life and my recovery. I hope eventually to go into total remission from Grave’s disease and to stop having to take medicine all together.
